Professional Horse Sitting Services Nationwide UK
Experienced Live-in Horse Sitter & Equine Care
Finding a reliable, experienced horse sitter who understands your horses' individual needs can be difficult, particularly when you need someone to stay at your property while you're away.
At A3 House & Pet Sitting, I provide professional live-in horse sitting throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Established in 2008, my independent service combines formal equine qualifications with extensive practical experience caring for horses and ponies.
Whether you have family ponies, retired horses, competition horses or a private equestrian property with several horses, I provide attentive, knowledgeable care tailored to their established routines.
Your horses remain in their familiar surroundings, with one experienced sitter responsible for their daily care and your home.
Qualified Horse Sitter with Extensive Equine Experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science from Aberystwyth University and a National Diploma in Equine Studies from Walford College.
My experience with horses began in childhood and developed through years of riding, handling, training and working professionally within the equine industry.
Following university, I worked at Westpoint Stud, gaining practical experience in warmblood breeding, stud management, mare care and stallion handling.
I subsequently worked at Brongain Farm, where I was responsible for the care and management of 18 horses, including Shires and Gelderlanders.
This background has given me experience with horses of different breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments, alongside a practical understanding of equine behaviour, welfare and stable management.
Today, I use that experience to provide dependable horse sitting for owners who need someone confident and capable of maintaining their horses' usual care routines.
What My Horse Sitting Services Include
Every yard and equestrian property operates differently. I follow your established routines rather than expecting your horses to adapt to unfamiliar arrangements.
Depending on your requirements, my horse sitting services can include:
Preparing feeds, hay, haylage and supplements according to your instructions.
Providing fresh water and checking troughs and buckets.
Turning horses out, bringing them in and catching from the field.
Changing rugs and carrying out routine grooming.
Mucking out, bedding down and maintaining clean stables.
Checking field-kept horses and ponies throughout the agreed daily routine.
Monitoring appetite, behaviour, movement and general wellbeing.
Administering agreed routine medication in accordance with veterinary instructions.
Maintaining stable, yard and equipment hygiene.
Contacting your veterinary surgeon and nominated emergency contact when necessary.
Whether your horses are stabled, field-kept or managed through a combination of turnout and stabling, their individual needs and workload will be discussed before booking.
Live-in Horse Sitting — Keeping Horses at Home
For many horse owners, arranging care during a holiday or business trip involves more than simply finding someone to feed the horses.
Horses benefit from familiar surroundings, consistent handling and established feeding and turnout routines.
My live-in horse sitting service allows your horses and ponies to remain at their own yard, avoiding unnecessary changes to their environment.
Being based at your property also means I can provide a reassuring presence, monitor your animals during their usual daily care and attend to agreed household responsibilities.
As an independent sitter, I personally undertake the bookings I accept. You know who will be caring for your horses, rather than having different people allocated to your property.
Horse Sitting for Different Equine Requirements
I understand that caring for a retired pony living out is very different from managing several stabled horses with individual feeding, rugging and turnout requirements.
My experience includes:
Family horses and children's ponies.
Retired and older horses requiring attentive daily care.
Field-kept horses and native breeds.
Stabled horses requiring regular mucking out and yard management.
Competition and performance horses requiring established feeding and management routines.
Larger breeds, including Shire horses.
Horses with individual handling, dietary or medication requirements.
I am comfortable working around horses with different temperaments and routines, and I appreciate the importance of discussing any particular handling requirements before a booking.
My service focuses on daily care, handling and management rather than riding or exercising horses.
Horse Sitting Alongside Dogs, Cats & Other Animals
Many equestrian households have more than horses to consider when arranging time away.
Alongside your horses and ponies, I can also care for dogs, cats and other domestic pets, as well as privately kept smallholding animals where appropriate.
Having grown up on a smallholding, I have practical experience with a wide range of animals, including donkeys, goats, sheep, alpacas, cattle and poultry.
This means you can arrange one experienced live-in sitter for your horses, other animals and home, rather than coordinating several different people.
For properties with a broader mixture of livestock and animals, my Equine & Smallholding Care service provides further information.
Professional, Insured & Personal Horse Care
A3 House & Pet Sitting has provided independent house and animal sitting services since 2008.
I hold professional equine qualifications, maintain business insurance for my sitting services and have a clear DBS check.
I understand the responsibility involved in being entrusted with someone's horses, particularly when individual animals have specific routines or require additional attention.
Before a booking, I discuss feeding arrangements, turnout, stabling, veterinary details, emergency contacts and any particular requirements.
While you're away, I provide regular updates and photographs so you can see how your horses and other animals are getting on.
My aim is to provide reliable, knowledgeable care while respecting your property, routines and instructions.
